Plan the trip carefully. Contact the local NPWS office for the park to obtain more information. How difficult will the walk be? How long will it take ? Tell a friend, relative or the local NPWS office where you're going and when you’ll be back. Check local conditions. Is there a total fire ban or park fire ban? Bring your own water. For day and overnight walks take the right gear carry enough food and water for the trip make sure you have appropriate clothing, including warm and waterproof clothes carry a first-aid kit with bandages take a map of the area wear sunscreen and a hat bring a plastic bag for taking rubbish away.
